Guatemala is a beautiful country of 13 million people and is about the size of Tennessee. About half of the people are Mayan and their ancesters built an amazing civilization from 250 AD until the Spanish conquered them in 1524. The Mayan ruins at TIKAL are in a class with Machu Picchu in Peru and the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. There are many volcanoes, some of them still active.
This destination is not for all. but if you appreciate history and beautiful scenery and are looking for something different you would enjoy it.
