As a middle school teacher for 31
years, I was fortunate to be able to organize and
accompany students on many school trips. Having taught
English, history and geography for most of my career,
I particularly enjoyed sharing my love of travel with
my students, in addition to helping them to appreciate
the background and culture of the places we visited.
This was especially fun to share with students who,
in many cases, had never been outside their own cities.
Along with my husband, who taught at the same school
as I did for many years, I guided student groups to
such Canadian cities as Ottawa, Toronto, Niagara Falls
and several other locations in southwestern Ontario,
including several camp trips. I also escorted school
trips to such American destinations as Boston, Chicago,
Washington D.C. and New York City.
My personal travel experience includes
both land and cruise trips to various Caribbean locations,
as well as travel in Italy, England, Portugal and
the Netherlands. In Canada, I've had the pleasure
of visiting both the east and west coasts, as well
as many locations within Ontario and Quebec. I have
also travelled in the U.S., primarily in Hawaii, Arizona,
Florida, Nevada and New York State.
Having, somewhere along the way, apparently
passed on the travel bug to our three children, my
husband and I have reaped the benefits of travelling
to visit our son and his family, who live in Japan,
and of planning to visit our youngest daughter, who
is always on the move, but is currently living in
Dubai. Our oldest, a photographer, is also constantly
on the move, and we hope to join her on some of her
photo shoots outside of Canada, in the near future.
I look forward to helping to make
your travel experiences as exciting and informative
as mine have been, and of sharing my love of travel
with you and your group members.
